Past Event: Barn Festival October 16th, 2011

Barn Festival 2011

The Barn Festival was Sunday, October 16th from 12 pm to 4 pm at the barn and property of Trish and Don Wolfe.  Thanks to the generosity of the Wolfes, this year the BRLC decided to have a Barn Festival instead of our traditional tour of barns and farms. Guests came to celebrate the bounty of fall, tour the wonderful old dairy barn and beautiful floral and vegetable gardens on their small farm, all to the tunes of the talented & upscaled jazz quartet of Mitchell Cheng & friends.

All were welcome to this FREE event and folks came to enjoy a fun, festive day including a display of quilts (some dating back to the late 1800’s) and apple pie and cookie contests. There were demonstrations whch included fly tying and casting, wine making, fall/Halloween mask-making, children’s activities and other arts and crafts.

This was the last opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win a clock, floorcloth or collectible Redware jug as the drawing for our Artisans’ Raffle took place at the end of this day! This free event featured homemade lunch as guests learned about the BRLC, and what makes our community a special place to live.   Be sure to look for next year's events and our upcoming Vargo Car Show on November 5th at AGA Farms.

Past Event: Traditional Artisan Show September 17 & 18th, 2011

Bedminster Regional Land Conservancy hosted its sixth annual Traditional Artisan Show at the Upper Bucks Technical School. Shoppers visited over 40 artisans from 12 states with everything from Shaker boxes to floorcloths, Redware pottery, Windsor chairs, hooked rugs, theorem paintings, stained glass, and more. Many of these artisans have their work in museums, churches, in private and corporate collections, and in state and federal buildings.

There were demonstrations by artisans on wrought iron work, papercutting, carving and about the details of constructing hidden compartments in an 18th Century desk.  UB Tech students also raised money for their field trips and projects throughout the year.

Thank you to our sponsors Early American Life Magazine, BC Design, First Savings of Perkasie , Bucks County Soapstone, AGA Farms, and Chubby's Dairy Barn.  Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers!  See you all next year.

BRLC's 13th Annual Garden Tour

Past Event: 13th Annual Garden Tour June 6th, 2011

The Bedminster Regional Land Conservancy (BRLC) held its 13th Annual Garden Tour as visitors explored private gardens and artwork.  The visual, functional, culinary and horticultural artists’ gardens on the tour provided for a day filled with experiences ranging from magical to imaginative and even fragrantly delicious!

A garden appetizer: Diabase Lodge mixes ceramics and recyclables with flowers and a wonderfully natural landscape that surprises and delights you at every turn; a Japanese Garden with discipline and elegance boasts a Densaborou Oku original artwork – a majestic hand-blown glass and bronze fish sculpture that is a focal point in the garden; not far away, a farm boasting more than 500 varieties of herbs and beautiful organic vegetables will made visitors pine for lunch; and near Ringing Rocks, a garden splattered with art, sculpture, water and magical features to please your palate; and more gardens beckoned exploration.

The Garden Tour, organized by the BRLC’s fund-raising committee, benefits the BRLC’s farm and land preservation program.

Guest Speaker Mike Fournier with BRLC President, Eve Marschark

Past Event: April 2011 Annual Meeting, Guest Speaker & Buffet

Our Annual Meeting & Buffet is complimentary for our members and members are welcome to bring a friend.  The food is always tasty and plentiful and our guest speakers present interesting information relative to land conservation, good stewardship practices and local flora & fauna.  This year Mike Fournier of the Bucks and Montgomery County Extension Service spoke about farming trends in our area and the future of farming.

Held every year in April, this event boasts unique raffle and door prize items. This year we had a colorful hand-made quilt for our raffle.  The meeting is a great opportunity to spend time with neighbors and friends as well as to get caught up on BRLC accomplishments and activities.
